NCAAFCollege football is a sport that has been played for over 150 years. It is one of the most popular and beloved sports in the United States, with hundreds of millions of fans cheering on their favourite college football teams every fall. College football is a game in which teams of student-athletes from universities and colleges compete against each other in an exciting and thrilling battle of offensive and defensive football. The sport consists of 11-on-11 matches, usually played on Saturdays during the fall months in stadiums across America.
College football's regular season usually begins in late August or early September and ends in early December. The teams are decided by each school's football conference - e.g. the SEC, the ACC, the Big 12, the Big Ten and more. After the regular season, some teams will be chosen to compete in the post-season playoffs that will decide the national champion.
The most popular college football teams in the country are Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Georgia Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks, Florida Gators, Oklahoma Sooners, and LSU Tigers. Some of the most popular current college football players are Justin Fields, Trevor Lawrence, Ian Book, Tua Tagovailoa, Jalen Hurts, and Jonathan Taylor.
The history of College football is filled with legendary teams and players, such as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Michigan Wolverines, Charles Woodson, and Marcus Mariota. Some of the most memorable games in College Football history include the 1969 ‘Game of the Century’ between the Texas Longhorns and Arkansas Razorbacks, the 2006 Rose Bowl between USC and Texas, and the 2012 BCS National Championship Game between Alabama and Notre Dame.

Middle Tennessee State at Western KentuckyNCAAFThe Week 5 slate gets underway with a game between Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky. Last year, the Hilltoppers defeated the Blue Raiders 35-17 for a fourth straight series victory. Austin Reed (WKU) has nine touchdown passes in four 2023 games.
Jacksonville State at Sam Houston StateNCAAFSam Houston State seeks its first win of the year in its Conference USA debut versus Jacksonville State. The Bearkats have mustered just 10 points through three 2023 losses. The Gamecocks won their season opener and C-USA debut over UTEP on Aug. 26.
Alabama-Birmingham at GeorgiaNCAAFThe top-ranked Bulldogs seek a 21st straight victory as they welcome the Blazers to Sanford Stadium. Georgia picked up where it left off last season during its 3-0 start, holding UT-Martin, Ball State and South Carolina to a combined 24 points.
Arkansas at LSUNCAAFThe Razorbacks begin SEC play by facing the No. 12 Tigers. LSU has won six of the last seven meetings, but Arkansas prevailed 16-13 in its last visit to the bayou in 2021. LSU opened its league schedule by beating Mississippi State 41-14 in Week 3.
Memphis vs MissouriNCAAFSt. Louis hosts a duel of the Tigers as Missouri (3-0) meets Memphis (3-0). Missouri is 3-1 versus Memphis, with the last win in 2018. Harrison Mevis kicked a walk-off 61-yard field goal as Mizzou upset then-No. 15 Kansas State 30-27 in Week 3.
Weber State at UtahNCAAFAn all-Beehive State battle sees the Wildcats (2-0) step up to face the No. 12 Utes (2-0). Utah started its campaign with defensive wins over Florida and Baylor. Weber State has lost four straight to Utah by an average of 33.25 points per game.
Boston College at LouisvilleNCAAFThe undefeated Cardinals welcome the upset-minded Eagles to the Bluegrass State for an ACC affair. Louisville comes off a 21-14 victory over Indiana. Boston College had a chance to stun then-No. 3 Florida State, but came up short 31-29 in Week 3.
Rice at South FloridaNCAAFRice plays its first American Athletic Conference contest by visiting South Florida. The programs have never met. The Owls spent the last 18 years in Conference USA. South Florida gave then-No. 10 Alabama a test before falling 17-3 in Week 3.

Louisville at NC StateNCAAFThe Cardinals visit the Wolfpack. Louisville (4-0, 2-0 ACC) leads the all-time series with NC State (3-1, 1-0) by an 8-4 margin after a 25-10 decision in 2022. Cardinals receiver Jamari Thrash has turned 19 catches into 400 yards and five touchdowns.
Columbia at PrincetonNCAAFAn Ivy League opener pits the Tigers (1-1) against the Lions (1-1). Princeton has claimed four consecutive meetings, defeating Columbia 24-7 and 24-6 over the last two seasons. Lions quarterback Caden Bell has a pair of rushing scores in 2023.
Utah at Oregon StateNCAAFThe No. 10 Utes ride a stout defense into their Pac-12 test against the No. 19 Beavers. The series is tied 12-12-1 after Utah won 42-16 in 2022. The Utes are yielding 9.5 points per game, sixth-fewest nationally, after beating then-No. 22 UCLA 14-7.
Louisiana Tech at Texas-El PasoNCAAFThe Bulldogs (2-3, 1-0 C-USA) and Miners (1-4, 0-1) resume their league slates at the Sun Bowl. Smoke Harris reeled in two TD passes to help Louisiana Tech defeat UTEP 41-31 in 2022. Harris leads the Dogs with 34 receptions in five games this year.
Cincinnati at BYUNCAAFThe Bearcats (2-2, 0-1) and Cougars (3-1, 0-1) seek their first conference wins as Big 12 members. BYU won both previous meetings with Cincinnati in 2015 and 2016. On Sept. 23, Cincinnati fell to then-No. 16 Oklahoma, while BYU lost against Kansas.
NC State at VirginiaNCAAFNC State and Virginia renew their rivalry with a Friday night clash. The Wolfpack won the past two meetings with the Cavaliers. Senior quarterback Brennan Armstrong threw for 264 yards and a touchdown in NC State's 45-7 romp of VMI on Sept. 16.
Syracuse at ClemsonNCAAFThe No. 14 Orange face the No. 5 Tigers in a match between unbeaten ACC programs. Clemson has won the past four get-togethers. Syracuse improved to 6-0 for the first time since 1987 by upsetting then-No. 15 North Carolina State 24-9 on Oct. 15.
Utah State at ConnecticutNCAAFThe Aggies head for the Constitution State to confront the Huskies. Utah State topped UConn 31-20 in 2022. The Aggies come off a 45-38 setback to undefeated James Madison. The Huskies have lost all four of their games this year by a combined 124-52.
South Alabama at James MadisonNCAAFThe Dukes host the Jaguars in Week 5. James Madison is 4-0 following Jordan McCloud's six total touchdowns in a 45-38 win at Utah State on Sept. 23. South Alabama wide receiver Caullin Lacy has caught five of Carter Bradley's six TD passes in 2023.
Clemson at SyracuseNCAAFThe Tigers (2-2, 0-2 ACC) try to pick up the pieces when they visit the Orange (4-0, 0-0). Clemson has triumphed in five in a row against Syracuse, but on Sept. 23 saw its seven-game win streak against Florida State snapped in a 31-24 overtime loss.
Alabama-Birmingham at TulaneNCAAFThe Blazers try to turn the tide in their American Athletic Conference debut against the Green Wave. Jacob Zeno has accounted for 11 of UAB's 16 touchdowns in 2023. Tulane has won two in a row after dismantling Nicholls State 36-7 on Sept. 23.
USC at ColoradoNCAAFThe No. 8 Trojans try to stay perfect against the Buffaloes. USC has won all 16 meetings, averaging 39.9 points in 11 Pac-12 get-togethers. Colorado comes off its first loss in the Deion Sanders era, a 42-6 shellacking at then-No. 10 Oregon.
Penn State at NorthwesternNCAAFThe No. 6 Nittany Lions (4-0, 2-0 Big Ten) attempt to start 5-0 for the fourth time since 2019 as they visit the Wildcats (2-2, 1-1). Running back Nicholas Singleton rushed for 87 yards and a TD in Penn State's 17-7 win over Northwestern in 2022.

Indiana at MarylandNCAAFTaulia Tagovailoa and the Terrapins host the Hoosiers for a Big Ten affair. Tagovailoa, brother of the Dolphins' Tua, has led Maryland to its second 4-0 start in three years. The Terps have won two straight meetings by a combined eight points.
Baylor at UCFNCAAFThe Knights (3-1, 0-1) try for their first Big 12 victory as they host the Bears (1-3, 0-1). UCF saw its three-game winning streak halted in its conference debut Sept. 23, a 44-31 loss at Kansas State. Baylor plays its first road contest of 2023.
Georgia at AuburnNCAAFThe No. 1 Bulldogs hit the road for the first time this season as they try to make it seven in a row over the SEC rival Tigers. Two-time defending national champion Georgia extended its win streak to 21 games with a 49-21 triumph over UAB in Week 4.
Houston at Texas TechNCAAFLongtime rivals tangle for a Big 12 affair when Texas Tech (1-3, 0-1) hosts Houston (2-2, 0-1). The Red Raiders have cut into the Cougars' all-time series lead with wins in five of six meetings since both departed the Southwest Conference in 1996.
Michigan at NebraskaNCAAFNo. 2 Michigan (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) heads to Memorial Stadium to battle Nebraska (2-2, 0-1). The Wolverines have won three straight against the Cornhuskers. Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh returned to action Sept. 23 with a 31-7 victory over Rutgers.
Kansas at TexasNCAAFThe No. 3 Longhorns host the No. 24 Jayhawks. Kansas earned its position in the AP Top 25 with a 38-27 win over a new Big 12 rival in BYU on Sept. 23. Quinn Ewers threw for 293 yards and a TD, and ran in another score as Texas thrashed Baylor 38-6.
South Florida at NavyNCAAFThe Midshipmen eye their first American Athletic Conference victory versus the Bulls. Alex Tecza scampered for 163 of Navy's 299 rushing yards in a tight 28-24 loss to Memphis before the bye. South Florida beat Rice 42-29 in its AAC opener Sept. 23.

Boise State at MemphisNCAAFThe Tigers (3-1, 1-0 American) match up with the Broncos (2-2, 1-0 MWC) for the first time. Memphis took its first loss of the season in Week 4, a 34-27 decision against Missouri in St. Louis. Boise State looks to pick up a third straight victory.
LSU at Ole MissNCAAFThe No. 13 Tigers visit the No. 20 Rebels. LSU has scored 147 points during a three-game win streak, with senior quarterback Jayden Daniels accounting for 13 TDs in those contests. Ole Miss' three-game run ended with a loss to then-No. 13 Alabama.
Oregon at StanfordNCAAFBo Nix and the No. 9 Ducks head for the Farm to clash with the Cardinal in a Pac-12 game. Nix has tossed 11 touchdown passes after throwing three in a 42-6 victory over then-No. 19 Colorado. Oregon sophomore Jordan James boasts six rushing scores.
Iowa State at OklahomaNCAAFIowa State (2-2, 1-0 Big 12) looks to slow down Dillon Gabriel and No. 14 Oklahoma (4-0, 1-0). Gabriel has completed 78% of his passes for 1,227 yards and 12 touchdowns in the Sooners' first four games. Oklahoma leads the all-time series 79-7-2.
Charlotte at SMUNCAAFA new American Athletic Conference competition sees Charlotte play SMU from Dallas. The 49ers are 1-3 in their first season as an AAC program. The Mustangs fell to 2-2 after being doubled up by the in-state rival Horned Frogs 34-17 in Week 4.
Michigan State at IowaNCAAFThe Hawkeyes (3-1, 0-1 Big Ten) look for a bounce-back effort when they host the Spartans (2-2, 0-1) for a Week 5 contest. Iowa snapped a three-game slide versus Michigan State in the last meeting between the programs, a 49-7 decision in 2020.
Notre Dame at DukeNCAAFThe No. 11 Fighting Irish face the No. 17 Blue Devils. Duke seeks its first 5-0 start since 1994 after knocking off UConn 41-7 on the road on Sept. 23. Notre Dame fell to 4-1 with a disheartening loss versus then-No. 9 Ohio State in Week 4.
West Virginia at TCUNCAAFThree-game win streaks clash as the Horned Frogs (3-1, 1-0 Big 12) host the Mountaineers (3-1, 1-0). TCU's 41-31 win in 2022 cut West Virginia's lead in the all-time series to 7-5. Savion Williams had 97 receiving yards and a TD for TCU in that game.
San Diego State at Air ForceNCAAFThe Falcons (4-0, 2-0 MWC) look to keep flying high as they host the Aztecs (2-3, 0-1). Air Force has a 4-0 record for just the second season since 2003, with senior running back Emmanuel Michel rushing for 322 yards and six TDs in those victories.
Washington at ArizonaNCAAFThe Wildcats begin a tough stretch by facing the No. 7 Huskies. Washington routed California 59-32 in its Pac-12 opener Sept. 23. Arizona escaped Stanford 21-20. Michael Penix Jr. (WASH) leads the nation with 1,636 passing yards and 16 TD passes.
Nevada at Fresno StateNCAAFMountain West combatants kick off conference play as the unbeaten Bulldogs host the winless Wolf Pack in Week 5. Fresno State has won 13 in a row dating back to Week 7 of last season, including a 41-14 result against Nevada on Nov. 19, 2022.
Florida at KentuckyNCAAFThe No. 22 Gators (3-1, 1-0 SEC) run up against the Wildcats (4-0, 1-0) in a Week 5 clash. Florida has won three in a row after defeating Charlotte 22-7 on Sept. 23. Kentucky has won two straight meetings after knocking off Florida 26-16 last year.
Texas A&M vs ArkansasNCAAFTexas A&M plays Arkansas. De'Von Achane ran for 159 yards and a TD as the Aggies claimed the 2022 Southwest Classic over the Razorbacks. Achane exploded for 203 rushing yards and four scores in the Miami Dolphins' 70-20 win over Denver on Sept. 24.
Arizona State at CaliforniaNCAAFCalifornia Memorial Stadium hosts the first meeting between Arizona State and California since 2019. The Golden Bears lead the all-time series by just one game following a 24-17 setback in that contest. Both clubs lost their Pac-12 openers Sept. 23.
Tulsa at WashingtonNCAAFMichael Penix Jr. and the No. 8 Huskies keep rolling as they host the Golden Hurricane. Penix Jr., the second-leading passer nationwide in 2022, threw for 450 yards and five touchdowns in Washington's season-opening rout of Boise State on Sept. 2.
Texas-El Paso at ArizonaNCAAFArizona (1-1) tries to continue its dominance of UTEP (1-2). The Wildcats lead the series 39-11-2 after winning the past 13 meetings, with the last in 2017. Arizona comes off a turnover-plagued 31-24 setback in overtime at Mississippi State.
Pittsburgh at Virginia TechNCAAFPittsburgh plays Virginia Tech in a showing of 1-3 ACC programs. Israel Abanikanda, now with the NFL's New York Jets, ran for a school-record 320 rushing yards and six TDs in a third straight series victory for the Panthers over the Hokies in 2022.
North Carolina vs South CarolinaNCAAFThe Duke's Mayo Classic sees the No. 21 Tar Heels battle the Gamecocks for Carolina supremacy. The schools met in the 2021 Duke's Mayo Bowl, with South Carolina earning a 38-21 win over North Carolina. Spencer Rattler returns to pilot the Gamecocks.
Missouri at VanderbiltNCAAFThe No. 23 Tigers face the Commodores. Missouri is 4-0 for the first time since 2013, and has its first place inside the AP Top 25 in four years following a 34-27 triumph over Memphis at the Dome in St. Louis. Last year, Mizzou beat Vanderbilt 17-14.
Southern Utah at Arizona StateNCAAFThe Sun Devils host the Thunderbirds. On Aug. 27, Arizona State announced it will observe a self-imposed postseason ban for this year as the NCAA continues to investigate alleged infractions that occurred under former head coach Herm Edwards.
Nevada at USCNCAAFCaleb Williams and the No. 6 Trojans host the Wolf Pack. The schools haven't met since 1929. Williams, the heavy favorite to win his second straight Heisman Trophy, threw four touchdown passes in USC's 56-28 victory over San Jose State in Week 0.
UC Davis at Oregon StateNCAAFDJ Uiagalelei's No. 16 Beavers open Reser Stadium by playing the Aggies. Uiagalelei, a former five-star prospect and transfer from Clemson, debuted for Oregon State by accounting for the first five TDs in a 42-17 win over San José State on Sept. 3.
Northern Illinois at ToledoNCAAFThe Huskies dig into their MAC schedule by playing the Rockets. Peny Boone ran for 211 yards and two TDs as Toledo won a third straight game in its Sept. 23 conference opener versus Western Michigan. Northern Illinois tries to stop a three-game skid.
Clemson at Wake ForestNCAAFThe No. 5 Tigers (3-0, 1-0 ACC) try for their 14th straight win over the No. 21 Demon Deacons (3-0, 0-0). The teams have combined for 250 points in 2022. Wake Forest's Sam Hartman has thrown seven touchdown passes in the two games he's played.
Bowling Green at Georgia TechNCAAFThe Yellow Jackets (2-2) swarm the Falcons (1-3). Georgia Tech comes off a 30-16 triumph over ACC rival Wake Forest behind two touchdown passes from Haynes King. The sophomore quarterback has thrown for 1,132 yards and 11 TDs in four games this year.
California at ColoradoNCAAFThe Buffaloes seek their first victory of 2022 when they face the Golden Bears. California tight end Keleki Latu scored a touchdown during a 26-3 rout of Colorado in 2021. Owen McCown has thrown for 444 yards and two TDs in two starts for the Buffs.
San Jose State at USCNCAAFThe No. 6 Trojans begin their final season as a member of the Pac-12 by hosting the Spartans. USC joins the Big Ten in 2024. Trojans junior Caleb Williams is favored to win his second straight Heisman Trophy after tossing 42 TD passes last season.
Northern Arizona at ArizonaNCAAFThe Wildcats begin their final Pac-12 campaign by welcoming the Lumberjacks to town. Arizona seeks its first season above .500 since 2017. Northern Arizona bested Arizona 21-19 the last time the two Grand Canyon State schools squared off in 2021.
Alabama at Mississippi StateNCAAFThe No. 12 Crimson Tide seek their 16th straight victory over the SEC foe Bulldogs. Mississippi State last beat Alabama in 2007. Bama rebuffed then-No. 15 Ole Miss 24-10 in Week 4. Jo'Quavious Marks (MSST) has rushed for 352 yards and four scores.

Oregon State at UtahNCAAFThe No. 12 Utes welcome the Beavers to Rice-Eccles Stadium in a meeting of 3-1 Pac-12 programs. Utah won a third consecutive outing Sept. 24 by stomping Arizona State 34-13. Oregon State fell just short versus then-No. 7 USC 17-14 on that same date.
LSU vs Florida StateNCAAFA marquee matchup pits the No. 5 Tigers against the No. 8 Seminoles. Florida State capped a thrilling finish by blocking the game-tying kick at the buzzer to hold off LSU 24-23 in Week 1 last year. LSU went 10-4 in its first season under Brian Kelly.
Washington at Arizona StateNCAAFThe No. 21 Huskies (4-1) try to recover as they visit the Sun Devils (1-4). Washington comes off a 40-32 setback at previously-unranked UCLA. The Sun Devils have won seven straight at home against the Huskies, last losing such a contest in 2001.
Arizona at UtahNCAAFThe No. 14 Utes (6-2, 4-1) face a Pac-12 rival in the Wildcats (3-5, 1-4). Utah won a second straight game Oct. 29 when it slipped past Washington State 21-17. Utah has won five in a row versus Arizona, and leads the all-time series 25-19-2.
Western Kentucky at TroyNCAAFThe Hilltoppers (2-1) head to the Yellowhammer State for a matchup against the Trojans (1-2). Troy bumped its all-time record against Western Kentucky to 10-2-1 last season, as Richard Jibunor picked up 1 1/2 sacks in a 34-27 Trojan triumph.
Ole Miss at AlabamaNCAAFThe No. 15 Rebels face the No. 13 Crimson Tide in an SEC opener. Alabama fell from the top-10 rankings for the first time since 2015 despite a 17-3 win at South Florida in Week 3. Ole Miss moved to 3-0 with a strong second half against Georgia Tech.
Kentucky at VanderbiltNCAAFThe Wildcats try to stay perfect behind the arm of Devin Leary in an SEC opener against the Commodores. Leary has tossed for 855 yards and eight touchdowns in guiding Kentucky to a 3-0 start. Vanderbilt snapped a six-game series slide 24-21 in 2022.

Oklahoma at CincinnatiNCAAFThe Sooners take on the Bearcats. Dillon Gabriel completed 28-of-31 pass attempts for 421 yards and five touchdowns in Oklahoma's 66-17 rout of Tulsa in Week 3. Cincinnati lost the Victory Bell to Miami (Ohio) for the first time in 18 years Sept. 16.
