Nanny Abduction Murder Trial

Cross-examination continued on the Defense's first witness during the penalty phase. James Nelson, Scott's older, brother explained what he went through as child and young teenager. Next, more of the defendant's family members came to his defense. After the long testimony from his older brother the jury listened to Scott's first cousin. The aim was to show how mitigating factors was serious enough for jurors not to send him to death row for killing Jennifer Fulford, an innocent nanny.

S1, EP1 "A Kidnap Murderer"

Opening statement was graphic and detailed on how Jennifer Fulford was kidnapped and later murdered. Stand accused and facing the death penalty in his alleged role in her death was the defendant - Scott Nelson. He was accused of kidnapping Fulford, duct-tapping her in the back of her car, stealing her car to force her to withdraw $300 from her bank account, then finally stabbing and suffocating her to death leaving her body dumped into a wooded area.

S1, EP2 "The Drifter Attacks The Nanny"

Jennifer Fulford's boss testified for prosecutors. She was a nanny for this real estate investor's two children. Next, the State brought in a police officer who worked early in this homicide case. Local detectives initially treated it as a missing person's case until her body was found in a wooded area with multiple stab wounds three days after she vanished.

S1, EP3 "Missing Person To Homicide"

A missing person's case was how the detective on the stand told jurors about Jennifer Fulford's disappearance. She went missing from the home where she was working as a caretaker of two kids only to be found dead three days later in a wooded ditch just miles from the home. By the time Scott Nelson forced his way into the home where Fulford was working as a nanny, he was a drifter in Winter Park, Florida. He was homeless currently on federal probation for armed robbery.

S1, EP4 "Bank Surveillance"

Prosecutors went deep into the security system of the home where he was alleged to have kidnapped Jennifer Fulford, a nanny in the home. The State alleged the defendant was a homeless guy loitering the neighborhood when he targeted Fulford in order to rob and kill her. Bank surveillance linked Nelson to the ATM machine where he allegedly forced Fulford to withdraw $300 from her account and give it to him while she was all tied up.
