The Long Road Home
Based on journalist Martha Raddatz's same-named best-seller, "The Long Road Home" dramatizes the heroism on the front lines of the Iraq War. On April 4, 2004 -- a day that came to be known in military annals as "Black Sunday" -- the 1st Cavalry Division from Fort Hood was brutally ambushed, an incident that changed the U.S. military's view of Iraq from a peacekeeping mission to a fight against domestic insurgents. Across eight episodes, the series cuts between the battle in Iraq and the homefront in Texas, where wives and families anxiously await news for 48 agonizing hours.
S1, EP8 "Always Dream of Me"
The rescuers finally punch through to the stranded platoon; eight hours and seven minutes after the first shots were fired, the men of the 1st Cavalry Division are reunited, and must cope with the new realities of the war that has just begun.
S1, EP7 "Abandon Hope"
With Aguero out of play and the supply of ammunition fast diminishing, Bourquin struggles to signal helicopters in a desperate last-ditch effort to get located, culminating in a climactic final battle.
S1, EP6 "A City Called Heaven"
Tomas Young learns about the realities of war when Miltenberger's troop comes under fire; for Young, this moment marks the beginning of a lifelong struggle, with far-reaching consequences, through which he'll touch countless lives.
