Founded in 1985, the eight-team league has been known for its intense, run-and-gun style of play. The playoffs are a best-of-five series, with the winning team taking the head-to-head matchup in order to advance to the next round. In addition to its current success, Baloncesto Nacional de Argentina has a rich history, with a number of teams playing in the league since its inception. Past champions include Estudiantes de La Plata, Obera TC, Boca Juniors, and Echagüe Club de Formosa. The league has also staged numerous tournaments such as the FIBA Americas League, the Copa Argentina, and the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. The BNA is also known for its high-profile international competitions, such as the Nike International Friendlies, held in Argentina every year.
