The NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) is the governing body for women’s college soccer and consists of three divisions: Division I, Division II, and Division III. Each division has its own championship and tournament structure to determine the National Champion every year. The regular season starts in mid-August with games taking place at home venues throughout the country. Each team plays around 20 regular season games, with Division I teams playing a mix of conference games and non-conference games. At the end of the regular season, teams with the best records qualify for the Playoffs and the championship tournament. Division I teams begin post season play with a single elimination tournament. The winner then advances to the College Cup, where teams compete for the National Championship. In recent years, Women’s college soccer has been dominated by a few key teams.
