MotocrossMotocross is a thrilling type of motorcycle racing, in which riders navigate winding dirt courses at high speeds while navigating a variety of jumps and tight turns. These wild races take place on the same track that can span anywhere from one to three miles in length. Motocross features a wide range of divisions for riders of all ages, including 250cc, 450cc and Open Pro classes. It is a team sport, as riders represent a specific manufacturers or race for a sponsored team such as Red Bull KTM, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki and Geico Honda.
For 2020, the riders have been competing in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross and FIM World Championship motocross series’. Each season, fourteen combined events are held in the United States and seven events are held for the world series. The top riders from both series will qualify for the prestigious Motocross of Nations which pits teams of countries against one another.
Motocross is a growing sport that has expanded significantly in recent years. It features some of the most daring and skilled riders in motorsports. This includes legendary riders like Ricky Carmichael, Ryan Dungey, James Stewart, Jean-Michel Bayle, and Jeff Ward. Notable records and statistics include Ricky Carmichael’s 15 AMA National Championships and Ken Roczen’s three 450SX Championships.
At the end of the regular season, the top riders from the Monster Energy AMA Supercross World Championship are eligible for the two-round series finale and the FIM World Championship awards the top riders from the series with the overall championship.
